"Ryan explains incredibly valuable skills that can be used with ALL library users!"

Michelle Kilty, Aurora Public Library (Illinois)
I am not a librarian.

I don't even play one on TV.

I am Executive Director of the second largest homeless shelter in Illinois, though.

I started volunteering there when I was 13 years old (and joined the staff when I was 21).

Our staff faces a lot of difficult problems, so I equip them with the skills and knowledge they need for every possible situation.

On this website you can get a version of that training made just for library staff and the unique situations you face.

I hope this resource helps you be more confident and effective working with homeless patrons.

Thank you for everything you do!

Peace,

Ryan J. Dowd, Attorney, MPA

p.s.  A little bit more about me:  I'm ecstatically married (Krissie) with two children (Cameron & Hailey) and two ungrateful dogs (Kenya & Sahara).  My all-time favorite book is Dharma Bums by Jack Kerouac.
